After the outbreak of World War I, drafted into the Austro–Hungarian Imperial army in 1914 as the so‑called field chaplain (curatus).
Assigned to Przemyśl.
There, in the so‑called „Przemyśl fortress”, survived the first siege of the Austro–Hungarian troops by the Russian army (17.09.1914 — 10.10.1914).
Perished during the second siege, started on 05.11.1914.
Cutting off the access to supplies and worsening weather conditions, caused more and more soldiers to fell ill — contracted cholera and died in a field hospital.
