In 1917 during I World War opted publically for Latvia independence. Publicly criticized new communist authorities in Russia — Soviets. Murdered by Russian (Soviet) gang — right after so‑called Treaty of Brest–Litovsk of 03.03.1918 when Russians ceded Baltic states, including Latvia, to Germans.
