On 30.11.1988 left for a mission in Peru, South America.
Went to Lima, where learned Spanish, and then began missionary work in the village and district of Pariacoto — together with Fr Thomas Tomaszek.
The Marxist–Maoist, terrorist Esp. Sendero Luminoso (Eng. Shining Path), which controlled c. 40% of Peru at that time, threatened them with death — they did not give in and remained on the mission.
On 09.08.1991, three young, unknown men, fighters of the Esp. Sendero Luminoso, appeared in Pariacoto. Broke into the mission and terrorized the monks.
Had their hands tied.
According to some sources, they were put on „trial”, accused of „sedating the consciousness of the people through religion”. Were also accused of using a car, „a gift of imperialism, the Yankees”.
After being forced to hand over the keys to the monastic car, the murderers taken them out of the village, kidnapping the local mayor on the way.
All were murdered a few kilometres from the village — they were found lying face down on the ground.
Killed by shots to the back of the head.
On his back was a piece of paper with the words written in blood: „This is how imperialism's lackeys die”.
The perpetrators were never caught, heck, no investigation was ever launched.
